3 Signs that You Are a Bibliophile and Don’t Even Know it

“Books are man’s best friends,” goes the old saying, and we can all attest to that. It’s true that the written word has brought us so much beauty and inspiration over the centuries. Books touch the inner self and touch the soul in more ways than we can understand. Book lovers range from world-class writers to college students, from every walk of life, from every social status, and every age. Whether they are bookworms or avid readers, the vast majority of people who collect and love books are bibliophiles, even without knowing it.

Bibliomania or bibliophilia is basically the love of reading, possessing, and collecting books, which is a very common hobby enjoyed by many people. Most people who are not devoted bookworms also love to read. The most common type of book lover is a bookworm – that’s what it’s called, and it loves any kind of book, not just reference books and best sellers. If you think you are a bibliophile, you are probably also obsessed with keeping and displaying books around the house – or at least some of them.

A bibliophile is obsessed with books, period! You’ll find bookcases lining his or her walls, books on every table and within every corner. Books are his or her constant companion. In fact, bibliophiles love books so much that they will go out of their way to find a certain book or set of books to read. Even if it means they have to go on a road trip, they will still spend hours searching for books at every stop.

Do you have a favorite book series that you can’t put down? Are you an avid reader? If so, you are probably a bibliophile. It doesn’t matter if you’re collecting magazines, paperbacks, or hardcovers – or even buying entire boxed sets of these things – you are a dedicated book lover: a bibliophile. And now you know. You’re welcome, bibliophile!
