WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

POEMS AND DRAWINGS

When I was a kid… I would much rather have been a good baseball player or a hit with the girls, but I couldn't play ball. I couldn't dance. Luckily, the girls didn't want me. Not much I could do about that. So I started to draw and to write… By the time I got to where I was attracting girls, I was already into work, and it was more important to me. Not that I wouldn't rather make love, but the work has become a habit.

Roberto's opinion

"If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, come in, come in!"

Shel invites us to sit around by his fire and listen to his funny, twisted, and profound tales.

Plant diamond gardens, shoes that fly, crocodiles that go to the dentist and sleeping sardines are some of the stories that will amuse you, as you dwell into Shel’s creative brain and handy drawings.

This Where the Sidewalk Ends is the 40th Anniversary edition with additional poems by the author.

Shel also wrote my favorite book The Giving Tree (banned in Colorado in 1988) - go check it out! He wrote many other books of prose and poetry (over 30 million books sold), and also songs.

He liked to play the guitar, sing, draw and have a good time, up to his passing in 1999. Thanks Shel for all the memories! RIP

PAIRS WELL WITH

A Sandeman 10 Year Reserve Tawny Porto. Rich and supple, offering creamy flavors of hazelnut, Christmas pudding and ripe cherry, with cocoa powder notes. Lush and spicy on the long, ripe finish. A substantive 10-Year-Old Port to serve with a savory pear and almond tart.
